Special Moments of the Day:
Lots of smiles from kids!
Seeing nurses, child life specialists, respiratory therapists, and oncologists/doctors who took care of Riviera. Seeing them floods emotion and memories! A special thanks to Riviera's Child Life Specialist, Tina, for arranging and helping make this day possible! Thanks to Dr. Dean for taking time out of her busy day to come and visit with us.

We ran into a little girl we met in 2006 during our first River of Hope Drive. What are the chances! We got to talk with her dad and her. We follow her caring bridge to check her progress. It was a delight to run into them again and be able to give them gifts. Best of luck to her and her family.
We were taking pictures of Riviera's Doctor Corner and a little boy's dad said that was his son's favorite place since he had been admitted. That just warmed our hearts to hear.
When we were delivering treasure box items to the Oncology clinic and a nurse walked by and said that we had no idea what those treasure box items mean to kids... Todd and I both replied actually we have every idea of what those treasure box items mean and that is why we are doing what we are doing. The nurse said that after children go through their entire treatment they all respond that the treasure boxes were one of the most positive things they remember. Hearing those words and remembering how Riviera's face would light up when she received a treasure box items is why we have the River of Hope mission!
The first little girl we delivered to was a nine year old girl. Gabbie helped pick out her present. She picked out a horse fleece blanket and a horse stuffed animal. I said, "I hope she likes horses." When I delivered her gifts, her face lit up. Her mom said, "How perfect, her room is done in horses". Sometimes we just nail the perfect gifts!
